I had a great time this month attending the Rally of Writers conference at Lansing Community College! This was my second writing conference and I loved every second. Meeting other writers and learning about their projects and methodologies is so important to anyone wanting to become a part of the literary canon.
The day started strong when I attempted to make conversation with the woman next to me by asking, “Have you been here before?” Only for me to then discover she had been to every single conference because she was the founder! Definitely a funny, if slightly embarrassing, moment.
She gave me some great advice on how to not be afraid to approach others and ask about their writing journeys. That’s what we’re all here for!
I attended break-out sessions on creativity, spicing up your first page, scene structure, and social media promotions.
The experience definitely stoked a flame in me for the next conference! ;)
